Wrigley Mansion Rejoined the Arizona Biltmore. For Neighbors, It's Still a Private Club.

"Geordie wanted the mansion to be a supper club, to be open to the community." Jamie Hormel said that in a 2022 interview with Phoenix Home & Garden. The Biltmore Area Partnership quoted it again on October 3, 2026, the day after the house on the hill changed hands for the first time in 34 years.

The resort below now owns the house, and the resort's website already sells it as part of a stay. For anyone who lives within sight of the Mansion's lights, though, the way in hasn't changed. It's the same $20 membership the Hormels offered, and the Mansion ties the reason for it to the house's address rather than to its owner.

What the sale moved

KTAR reported, citing the Phoenix Business Journal and Maricopa County records, that the property was acquired October 1 for $17 million. The buyer is the venture that owns the Arizona Biltmore: Henderson Park, Western & Southern Financial Group, funds managed by Hamilton Lane, South Street Partners and Pyramid Global Hospitality. According to the official announcement, Pyramid will manage both properties. The resort itself is a Waldorf Astoria property.

On the resort side, things changed right away. The Arizona Biltmore's Wrigley Mansion page is headed "Two Icons, Reunited." It describes the Mansion as "perched 100 feet above the resort with sweeping 360-degree views of the Valley" and tells hotel guests the concierge can arrange transportation up the hill.

The new owners have described the deal in terms of guests. Michael Hoffmann, the Arizona Biltmore's vice president and managing director, said in the release that the goal is a chapter "that honors what makes each property special while introducing new experiences for guests today." Henderson Park CEO Nick Weber said the company is "excited to bring its culinary and hospitality strengths into closer connection with the Arizona Biltmore." The announcement includes no renovation, no new name and no program aimed at the surrounding neighborhood. It notes that the Mansion's most recent renovation was finished in 2021.

The rule that comes with the address

The Mansion's membership page explains the setup in one sentence: "Given our residential location, the city requires us to operate as a private club." By the Mansion's own account, the requirement is tied to where the house sits, not to who owns it.

The Hormels' answer was to set the price of entry about as low as it could go. These are the tiers listed on the Mansion's membership page:

Tier Annual cost What it adds
Social $20 Access to the Mansion, priority reservations for holidays and special events, member-only invites, complimentary valet
Wine $75 Everything above, plus first-priority reservations for the annual Festivin celebration and wine-member events
Corporate $250 Everything above, plus reduced food and beverage minimums for private dining spaces

The rule matters most at dinner. According to Christopher's own FAQ, "at least one person in your dinner party must be a member of Wrigley Mansion." Members can bring guests unless an event is restricted to members. No card is needed to get in or to park, because the Mansion keeps members' details on file. Guided tours last 45 to 60 minutes, and the Mansion strongly recommends booking because private events and capacity limit availability.

As of its October 3 check, the Biltmore Area Partnership found dining reservations, private events and memberships still listed on the Mansion's site. It suggested residents confirm arrangements directly with the property while the transition is underway.

The neighborhood grew out of the estate

The Mansion's "residential location" exists because the resort's former owners sold off the land around it.

  1. February 23, 1929. The Arizona Biltmore opens. That same year, after the stock market crash, the resort is sold to William Wrigley Jr.
  2. 1931. Wrigley finishes the Mansion as a 50th anniversary gift for his wife, Ada.
  3. 1973. Talley Industries buys Arizona Biltmore Estates: the hotel, the Mansion, the Adobe Golf Course and about 900 acres of undeveloped land.
  4. 1976. The first development parcel is sold. It becomes the Cloisters.
  5. 1992. Geordie and Jamie Hormel buy and preserve the Mansion, and it begins a long run under separate ownership.
  6. 2024. Henderson Park acquires the Arizona Biltmore, with Pyramid Global Hospitality managing the resort.
  7. October 2, 2026. The Mansion rejoins the resort under common ownership and management.

Talley's 900 acres became the homes and fairways that now ring the hill, and that residential setting is the reason the Mansion gives for running as a private club. In the Arizona PBS program Horizon in 2005, the Talley years were described as a time when the house held overflow Biltmore guests. The 2026 resort page describes an arrangement much like that, with guests ferried up the hill. What changed in the decades between is that a neighborhood filled the land around it.

Thursday nights, as currently scheduled

The Hormel names are still on the rooms. Geordie's Restaurant & Lounge and Jamie's Wine Bar both carry them, and Christopher's is led by James Beard Award-winning chef Christopher Gross. The resort lists Christopher's and Geordie's as open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m., with Jamie's Wine Bar opening at 4 p.m.

The Hormel Jazz Series is the most direct link to Geordie's supper-club idea. Jamie Hormel started it to bring live music back to the house where longtime members remember Geordie playing the antique Steinway at Sunday brunch. Sets run Thursdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the living room, cocktails and food are available for purchase, and reservations are strongly recommended. Here is the posted lineup through December:

  • Thursday, November 5: Raul Yanez on piano, Andrew Gross on saxophone, Dwight Kilian on bass, Dom Moio on drums
  • November 12: Raul Yanez, Dwight Kilian, Dom Moio
  • November 19: Nicole Pesce on piano, Andrew Gross, Dwight Kilian, Robby Carrillo on drums
  • November 26: no jazz, Thanksgiving
  • December 3: Nicole Pesce, Andrew Gross, Dwight Kilian, Dom Moio
  • December 10: Nicole Pesce, Dwight Kilian, Dom Moio
  • December 17: Nicole Pesce, Andrew Gross, Todd Johnson on bass, Robby Carrillo
  • December 24 and 31: no jazz, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve

The resort's holiday page now promotes the same series as "Jazz Nights at Wrigley Mansion," Thursday nights at 7. The sale announcement doesn't promise a schedule past the one already posted.

The season at the foot of the hill

A neighbor holding a $20 Social membership gets priority reservations for holidays and special events, and the calendar around the Mansion fills quickly in late November. These are the dates the resort and its neighbors have posted:

  • Wednesday, November 18, 6 to 8 p.m.: Trees of Joy at Biltmore Fashion Park, 2502 E. Camelback Road. It's the mall's first tree lighting with the Make-A-Wish Arizona Wishmakers Council, and it includes trees inspired by wish kids, Santa photos and cocoa.

  • Fridays and Saturdays from November 27: Sparkle & Stroll Sip & Shop at the Arizona Biltmore, plus Letters to Santa beginning November 28.

  • November 28 and December 5, 12 and 19: gingerbread-decorating classes at the resort.

  • November 29 and December 13: Nutcracker Tea. December 6 and 20: Teddy Bear Tea.

  • December 24 and 25: Christmas Dinner To Go. December 31: New Year's Eve at the Spire Bar, 21 and over, or in the Grand Ballroom.

  • Tuesday, December 8, 4 to 6 p.m.: the Biltmore Area Partnership holiday event at the Arizona Biltmore, 2400 E. Missouri Ave.

The jazz series is dark on all three holiday Thursdays, so December 17 is the last set before the new year on the posted schedule.

Wrigley Mansion is part of the story of the Biltmore homes around it, and owners near the hill tend to ask how this sale touches their own address. At Sacha Blanchet Fine Homes, we track these landmark changes closely because they shape how buyers see the streets around them. If you'd like to know what your Biltmore home is worth this season, request a free consultation or home valuation and we'll walk you through it over coffee, or over jazz on a Thursday.
